OUR STORY

Lucy is a designer and artisan of handbags, from Cambridge, England.

She formally trained at Cordwainer’s College, London, specialising in accessory design, and traditional handbag construction, at degree level.

Upon graduating in 2012, Lucy gained membership to The Worshipful Company of Cordwainer’s, after receiving their award for Excellence in Leather-craft.

A coat of arms featuring a shield with three chevron patterns, one with a lion, flanked by a man on the left and a woman on the right, holding a banner that reads "We Unite To Preserve Our Skills and History." Text below states "The Honourable Cordwainers Company," and a crown is positioned above the shield.

She has specialised in the design and production of fine leather accessories ever since, and has contributed both technically, and creatively to many brands during her time spent in the industry.

A woman with shoulder-length hair, wearing a light-colored long-sleeve shirt and dark jeans, stands near a wooden table looking at two large purses on display. One purse is black, and the other is light-colored. The purses are positioned on small blocks, and there is a window behind the table showing trees and an overcast sky.

THE BRAND

After working within the industry for ten years, Lucy formally established her own brand in 2020, as an answer to the increase in demand for heritage crafted products, and low-impact production.

The brand offers a blend of contemporary, and traditional craft techniques, to create sculptural pieces with a timeless simplicity.

The brand has grown organically since it’s conception, with a library of recognisable shapes, to be enjoyed by all who wear them.

Today, the brand produces fine leather goods for a growing and broad customer-base, around the world.

She continues to practice her craft within the Cockpit Arts community of makers, where her studio is situated amongst many other artists and makers.

The Aethersellers logo featuring a coat of arms with a shield, surrounded by a deer, a goat, and a dragon, with a banner below reading "Sol Deus Honor Et Gloria," and the words "The Aethersellers" underneath.

This opportunity has been possible due to the award funding from The Leathersellers Company, who offer sponsorship to leather makers, looking to grow their craft.

We open-up our studio twice a year as part of the Cockpit Arts Open Studio events. This is open to visitors, who may want to meet the maker, and watch her at work
